Leatherwork

Leatherwork ExampleI first came across real leatherwork in the south of Spain. I LOVE LEATHERWORK!

Spanish Lacing is a very old technique, that is seldom adopted by most modern leatherworkers, quite simply because it’s very difficult to do, and it’s HUGELY time consuming. This has never dissuaded me. I like a challenge! It has taken me many years to master these capricious techniques, though i believe the effort required has been worth while indeed! Hours upon hours of weaving seams, with NO margin for error, results in finished articles that are, i believe, magic! They speak for themselves.
I make no claim to be a purist regarding sourcing leather. All the leather i use is the result of animals being killed one way or another. My handy work with their hides give me the opportunity to hopefully truly honour the cow, horse, pig, goat, deer, elk, reindeer, crocodile, buffalo etc., by making something both useful and beautiful from their truly useful and truly beautiful hides.

All my leatherwork is HAND MADE from start to finish. The only tools i use are manually applied hand tools. I do not use any machines. I do not use any wax-cotton or nylon thread.

Each piece is made using traditional spanish-lacing techniques i.e. leather bound to leather with hand cut leather thonging.

The result is articles and garments that are utterly unique!
Each piece will last for generations!

All leatherwork is custom-made to order.
